Brycen Thomas

Brycen was born in Bakersfield, California, but has spent the majority of his life here in Eugene. After a couple moves back and forth he is happy to say Oregon will be his home for the foreseeable future. After high school Brycen planned on attending a four year college to obtain a degree in accounting, however after beginning the process to do such, he realized it was not the career he wanted to spend the rest of his life in. One career that did stick out to him was the fire service. Growing up with many family members being a part of it themselves; it was something he had been quite accustomed to over the years. In 2022 he started his fire career with Oregon Department of Forestry, where he would be a wildland firefighter for two years and realize that this is a career he would be happy doing for many years. Although he enjoyed his role as a wildland firefighter, becoming a structure firefighter was his end goal. While going to school for his EMT, he would partake in ride-alongs with his dad where his passion for EMS and helping the community flourished. That strong sense of connection with his peers and giving back to the community is the kind of fulfilling job he'd been looking for.
Upon finishing the academy in early March, he plans on continuing his education by getting his paramedic license within the next couple of years. With the support of his family and coworkers the process of achieving his goal of becoming a firefighter paramedic has been captivating.
